After seven years with this station, and more than a decade of covering sports in Western Oregon, Tom Ward took over as Sports Director in 2005. Tom originally joined the sports team in August of 1998, and has collected numerous awards for excellence in reporting. As a native Oregonian, he attended Lane Community College and the University of Oregon, and holds a degree in Broadcasting.
Tom anchors the sports on the news Monday through Fridays. From September into March, he also hosts the weekly wrap up of the Pac-10 conference, Inside The Pac.
Tom enjoys covering the teams he grew up watching as a kid, and believes Western Oregon is one of the best places in the country to be a sports reporter. While covering teams from Oregon State University and the University of Oregon, he has traveled to major sporting events such as the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament, the Fiesta Bowl, and the Holiday Bowl. During back to back Western Conference Finals appearances by the Portland Trail Blazers in 1999 and 2000, Tom was on the NBA playoff beat as well.
Tom and his wife, Raandi, enjoy the lifestyle in Western Oregon, and have settled into the community. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, basketball and snowboarding, and he lives for the summertime and all the outdoor activities that go with it.
