Nick graduated from Washington State University and the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication in May 2004 with a B.A. in Broadcast Communication.

Upon graduation, Nick was awarded with the Murrow School's Male Talent of the Year for his work on Inside the Lines, a weekly live sports show covering Wazzu & Pullman High athletics. He also spent all four years as a DJ/Music Director/GM for KUGR 95 Rock, one of the campus radio stations.

His career began at KLEW-TV in Lewiston, Idaho delivering live updates during the NAIA World Series. Then it was onto KTVQ-TV in Billings, MT as Weekend Sports Anchor.

Nick joined the KVAL Sports team in October of 2005. Most recently, he was awarded with first place honors by the Associated Press for Best News Writing, Best Sports Reporting and Best Sportscast.

In 2010, Nick took home the honor as Best News Feature by the Society of Professional Journalists.

Also in 2010, the KVAL Sports team won a first place SPJ for Best Sports Coverage for their Rose Bowl pregame show.

Nick also collected SPJ and Associated Press awards in Sports Reporting and Photography for his weekly Kaptivating Kidz segment.
