The Coos County Master Food Preservers Available at Coos County Fair
The Coos County Master Food Preservers, a group of local volunteers who provide food preservation/safety workshops throughout the year, will again host a booth at the Coos County Fair to help celebrate a Century of Fun for Everyone.
Volunteers will be available to answer your food preservation and/or food safety questions as well as provide you with publications and handouts of interest. Handout topics range from canning jams and jellies to how to safely preserve smoked fish and meat. Most publications are free, or sell for a nominal fee. They will also have on hand a variety of food preservation cookbooks and cheese-making kits from their ever popular cheese-making workshops. This active volunteer group is also very dedicated to health and nutrition and will offer a variety of handouts with helpful information.
For those who can’t pass up a carnival game, the MFPs will operate a Wheel Spin game where fairgoers can spin the wheel to answer a food safety, preservation or nutrition question to win a prize. Tickets will be available for a raffle basket filled with canning tips and tools. So watch for the Master Food Preserver booth in the Oaks Pavilion building at the fairgrounds. Volunteers will be available at the booth Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
