Coos Bay Public Library will host a “Graphic Novel Workshop” with professional artist Phil Yeh on Thursday, Feb. 28th at 1:30 p.m. Phil is one of the pioneers of the graphic novel art form, having worked with such giants as Will Eisner, Wendy Pini, and George Lucas. He founded Cartoonists Across America in 1985 after his friend Wally Famous Amos explained the problem of illiteracy in America to him.
The workshop will include an introduction to many world famous graphic novel creators and their creation processes; hands-on experience in drawing a funny comic strip; a demonstration on the process of actually writing a comic strip; and how to create unique characters. Participants will also learn how to self-publish their graphic novel using technology.
