Coos County Master Gardeners at the Coos County Fair

This is a daily event, running from July 23, 2013 through July 27, 2013.
The Coos County Fair, Tuesday, July 23rd through Saturday, July 27th, will again host our Coos County Master Gardener Association’s gardening information booth. The fair theme is “Barn in the USA”. The Master Gardeners’ booth can be found in the Floral Building, the second year for our new location. Visitors to the fair can also view our Master Gardener Vegetable Garden outside of the Floral Building for ideas on growing vegetables in a raised bed.

Master Gardeners will be available to help solve your gardening quandaries and all gardening conversations are welcome. Master Gardeners love to talk plants!

We have free drawings again this year with four beautiful gardening books to give away, as well as a 'Pink Lemonade' blueberry bush. Everyone who visits our booth is welcome to enter.

In addition to our plant clinic and garden information booth, we are hosting demonstrations on a variety of topics during fair days. As gardeners, we love our “gardening pals” like chickens and ducks so a visitor to our demonstration area can learn “All About Eggs” and the benefits of raising both chickens and ducks. See the schedule of demonstrations at the end of this article.

If you are bringing your kids to the fair, don’t miss our Garden Hat Making Table where kids can make some pretty spectacular hats out of newspaper, ribbons, feathers and other decorations. Hat making is always a big hit with the kids.

The Coos County Master Gardener booth is open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each Fair Day. Our Master Gardener Demonstrations are presented Tuesday through Saturday in the afternoon.
