Folk Music Concert at North Bend Public Library

November 10 7:00 PM North Bend Public Library 541-756-0400 nbpl@cclsd.org www.northbendlibrary.org
The South Coast Folk Society and the North Bend Public Library are collaborating for another very special concert, this time with modern folk virtuosos Tashina Clarridge and Simon Chrisman. Tashina plays the fiddle and Simon plays the hammered dulcimer as two-thirds of the trio The Bee Eaters (http://beeeaters.com/). They'll be performing at the North Bend Public Library on Sunday, November 10, at 7:00 p.m. Admission will be by donation, with all proceeds going to the musicians. Pay what you can--no one will be turned away.

On Sunday afternoon the pair will also hold a folk music workshop, time and location to be determined (possibly at the library!). On Saturday night November 9th at 7:00, they will be performing for the South Coast Folk Society's monthly Contra Dance at the Greenacres Grange ($7 admission, $5 for SCFS members). For more information about these additional events, check the South Coast Folk Society website at http://southcoastfolksociety.wordpress.com/.

Tashina and Simon trace their roots back to musical traditions as diverse as bluegrass, Celtic, jazz and old-time. While today's new breed often produces an amalgamation of sounds and styles based on a distant view, these remarkable musicians were raised embedded in traditional styles that mold, meld, shape them and carry them forward, while letting them leave their own indelible marks in the process. Listening to them perform has been described as "like eavesdropping on a spirited, private conversation."
