Richard J. King, author and senior lecturer in literature of the sea with the Maritime Studies Program of Williams College and Mystic Seaport will be in the Coos County area the first week of March 2014. Mr. King will give two presentations of his newly released book, The Devil’s Cormorant: A Natural History, one at the North Bend Library on Thursday, March 6th at 7:30 pm, the other at the South Slough Reserve Interpretive Center on Saturday, March 8th at 10:00 am. Copies of his book will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Books by the Bay and the Friends of South Slough Bookstore & More.
According to the University of New Hampshire Press, The Devil’s Cormorant “is an exploration of our literary, historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, political and often absurdly comical relationship with one of the most extraordinary, most maligned, and most successful birds.”
