(Shelly Kurtz - speaking)
On this chilly january morning, we ducked into the cozy, 'Great Harvest Bread Company' bakery, in Eugene, with Theo and Kiaran. The 7 and 5 year old brother and sister stepped into a whole new world.

(Christine Anderson - a baker - speaking)
("Sometimes that bowl is all the way full and we can't even lift it.")

(Shelly Kurtz - speaking)
Baker Christine Anderson took us on a short tour and showed us big sacks of grain that are ground into flour... We also looked at the biggest oven "ever"... And saw loaves and loaves of bread baking. Then after washing their hands, Christine showed them, how to kneed the bread.

(Christine Anderson - a baker - speaking)
("You push down a little bit, just a little bit and pull it towards you and then push back."
("You can try folding it, going like that, folding and pushing."
"folding it and pushing it, folding it and pushing it."
"Great, that's great!")

 (Shelly Kurtz - speaking)
We got the idea of going to a bakery because Theo has said, when he grows up, he wants to own a restaurant.

(Theo - Heart Gallery Child - speaking)
("It's going to be called The Shrimp...shrimp...shrimp thing... I don't know what it's going to be called.")

(Shelly Kurtz - speaking)
5 year old Kiaran (key-r-in) is a sweet little girl... happy to trail along behind her brother.
She's truly a girly-girl... And loves to dance.

(Kiaran - Heart Gallery Child - speaking)
("like to dance and swim but I can't."
"do you twirl?"
"yeah
Do you like to twirl?"
"do you sometimes twirl so much you get dizzy?"
"sometimes... like Miss Gooneybird Song.")

(Shelly Kurtz - speaking)
The children's foster mom says, these two really care for one another.

(Lori Hughes - children's foster mother - speaking)
("They do great together, I think they're each other's best friends.  That's all they've had is each other and so... Theo's a great big brother helps her with anything she needs.  Kiaran looks up to her brother a lot.")

(Shelly Kurtz - speaking)
According to the children's case worker, the family that adopts these two needs to be sensitive to their past. The children need lots of one-on-one time and they would do best as the only children or the youngest children in a family. Theo and Kiaran are bright, creative children, so their adoptive parents need to be open to the possibilities ahead.
