Heart Gallery - Jordan

This week's Heart Gallery child... turned a year older yesterday. Jordan is 11 and is wondering if there is a family out there for him. I recently met up with him....we had a great time with a bunch of critters..

("WOW are those spider webs?   Is she webbing on you?
   I see it!")

Spiders....Tortouises....and snakes!

Jordan was thrilled to get to hold and touch all of them! We spent some time together recently at the Zany Zoo....a non-traditional pet store in Eugene. Jordan likes pets, especially cats...but this place had things neither one of us had ever seen!

("Jordan, what are you seeing here that you've never seen before? "Some of those mammels over there."  "What about these snakes and tortoises?"
"I've seen them before.")

Owner Nate McClain showed us some really unusual animals....some you only see in books or the zoo. Jordan was genuinely curious about all of them!

("That's a guinea pig. There's no way...Yeah...that's a guinea pig!")

But, the snake room was like striking gold for Jordan....all sorts of snakes....from snakes in eggs....to baby snakes....to this 'little girl' ...a boa named 'Rosie'

When we sat down to talk, Jordan told me where he caught this love for creepy crawly things. It was last summer, with a younger brother at camp.

("Catch spiders, lots and lots some brown piosonous ones, like brown close...that thing was huge.")

The experience of being with his brother was a lasting memory for Jordan. He's been living apart from him....and misses him, a lot.
The family that adopts Jordan, needs to realize Jordan wants to stay in contact with him. Jordan has a lot of interests....he loves being outside, but there's more to him than bugs and running around.

("He loves to draw, he's very, very creative. He's very proud of that skill. He loves to be outdoors, He does like to swim, he likes to...he's gone to a couple camps this summer.")

The family that would work best for Jordan is one that can make him the focus of their lives and although he'd like to be the only child, an older brother who could be a role model, would be great. And, if he could have a few lizards, snakes or spiders that would make him pretty happy.
