June Heart Gallery child

Ze'ev June Heart Gallery child

By Shelley Kurtz

Children are just like sponges... They absorb everything around them, and this month's Heart Gallery Child" is no exception. He's a little boy, who is now a budding geologist, after finding out all about Oregon's rocks.

Ze'ev (zay-ev) is interested in just about everything. You show him something new, and he's on it, but checking out these old bones and finding out where they came from? Now, that was cool.

Ze'ev likes to be called "Z". We met up with him at the museum of natural history at the University of Oregon.

With tour guide Anne Craig, we learned about Oregon's prehistoric days. 8 Year old "Z" was taking it all in, and making some pretty good observations.

Even though he was suffering from allergies the day we met him, he didn't let it stop him from learning all he could.

Ze'ev says he likes just about everything... Sports and math... Reading, and now rocks.

Jean Taylor, Ze'ev's case worker is looking for a special, active family for Ze'ev. One that can introduce him to lots of new things.

"He's super at math but in 1st grade he was having trouble with reading but then he was home schooled and with the one-on-one, he learned really well and he's a great reader now." says Taylor

Ze'ev says, he's tired of moving around. It's time for him to have a home of his own... with brothers and sisters, dogs and cats. But definitely, room for his growing rock collection.

This month, you can view the Heart Gallery at the Gateway Mall, the Eugene public library and the First Baptist Church of Eugene.
