September Heart Gallery child

Don't mistake Dakota's quiet nature for shyness. What he is doing is thinking about the next fish he's going to catch. This nine year old is serious about fishing, so KVAL set up a float trip with river guide Todd Linkletter.

It didn't take long before Dakota got a fish. Todd helped Dakota catch fish after fish on this beautiful end-of-summer day. Each time, the hook was removed and the fish returned to the river.

When Dakota isn't fishing, he's playing football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer. Dakota's case worker, Laurie Randall, says "He would do well with a family that loves to do outdoor activities like camping, fishing, anything. He is just an outdoor boy." As for Dakota, he says he'd like a 'good family'.

Dakota is a bright boy. He has a lot of interest but on this day, it was the lure of the catch that kept him never wanting to leave this place.

This month's heart gallery can be seen at the Eugene Airport, the Gateway Mall, Oakway Center, The Market of Choice and Northwood Christian Church in Springfield. For more information about Dakota, call 686-7555. Ask for the adoption worker of the day.
