SHERWOOD, Ore. - The Tri-County Gun Club, which spans 220 acres, is the largest gun club in the Northwest.

Initiation fee - $175
Yearly dues - $120
Associate member (spouse) yearly dues - $35
New members must be National Rifle Association members, or join concurrently with their Tri-County Gun Club membership.
New member applications are accepted from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.

Range Rules

Shooting Range Hours

Most shooting ranges are open every day of the year for members and guests.
Trap and skeet ranges are open to the public Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Club calendar

History

The club, originally called Sherwood Rod and Gun Club, was organized in 1940. At that time, the club did not own any facilities, so meetings were held at a store in Sherwood. The dues were $3 per year, which included a subscription to the Northwest Angler Magazine.

The Future

A large-scale excavation project is under way, which will be the new location of the law enforcement, outdoor handgun and 500 meter silhouette shooting ranges. The area spans 36 acres and the plan is to create a drop of 85 feet.
A five-acre lake, which will be stocked by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, is planned as well.

Interesting Facts

Police agencies from throughout the area train at the Tri-County Gun Club. There are around 3,500 law enforcement officials who use the facility.
It took 240,000 dump truck loads of dirt to build a common backstop that is used for three of the high-powered rifle ranges.
The gun club holds an open house once a year where they invite neighbors and others to visit the facilities.
Many of the mounted game trophies in the clubhouse were donated by widows of former gun club members.
