Federal agents raid Coos Bay business

COOS BAY, Ore.-- Federal agents raided a heavy trucking and parts business in south Coos Bay Thursday afternoon.
Federal agents from the FBI and other Federal investigation agencies were seen at Kustom Products for most of the day Thursday.
Agents seached through the company's warehouse, opened boxes and searched parcels for most of the afternoon.
Kustom Products and its owners have been indicted on charges they supplied faulty and defective trucking and airplane parts to the U.S. Defense Department as early as 2008. Kustom Products was issued multi-million dollar contracts by the Federal government for those parts.
The Pentagon is pressing charges against the company and family that include conspiracy and fraud.
The family is pleading not guilty to the charges, and they are due in court for trial next January.
No one at the scene was available or willing to comment.

Earlier this year (2012) Raytheon testified before congressmen in Washington DC that our USA military were sending mechanical parts to China for refurbishment but instead China was scratching off the SKU number to reinitiate a new number as if to send a new part back to the military. I hope Kustom Products was NOT jeopardizing the safety of our military men. Who can we trust? Don't tell me money is the evil of all things. People are. And the safety of our troops is crucial and utmost a priority!
Â
Another note: Raytheon tries contracting small businesses for hire as the middleman to the government, since they are contracted by our government to present our military the best defense weapons, equipment, etc.. But once a small business is contracted, Raytheon turns around and reports to our government that they've accomplished hiring businesses, which in turn helps lower employment. By doing so, I believe the government gives Raytheon an atta boy with a big fat check. Do the research on any transaction before signing the dotted line. I do as I've learned my lesson(s).
