Marshfield H.S. student-athletes awarded
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Marshfield High School is honoring three student athletes for the month of September.

Volleyball player, Lauren McGowne, and cross-country runners Shaylen Crook and Connor Deveraux were recognized at Thursday's booster club meeting.

McGowne is co-captain of the volleyball team. She is the only setter and is second in both aces and blocks.

"I'm really excited, it's a great accomplishment for volleyball because I've never gotten it before. I've gotten it a couple times for track, but for volleyball, it just makes it that much more exciting," McGowne said.

Cross-country runner, Crook, has placed in the top seven in four out of five meets, and she placed seventh at the Nike Pre-Nationals.

Devereux is the vocal leader of the men's cross-country team. He was the overall winner of the Prefontaine Run and he led the men's team to first place.

"It's an honor to be Athlete of the Month, especially for Marshfield and Prefontaine's legacy. That's a real honor," Devereux said.

All athletes were nominated by their coaches.
