NB Fire Dept. responds to sinking sailboat in Coos Bay
COOS BAY, Ore.--- The North Bend Fire Department and the Coos Bay Police Department responded to a sinking sailboat in Coos Bay just south of the U.S. Coast Guard outpost in Coos Bay.

A witness tells KCBY that the people on board had to abandon their boat because of the sinking, and one man tried to swim to a remote island in the bay to get out the water. However, fire officials were unwilling to confirm that information at this time.

According to the North Bend Fire Department, no one was injured and the cause of the sinking is under investigation.

The owner of the boat was attempting to pull the remains of the boat back to shore with the help of a boat that is believed to have rescued him from the water.

KCBY is expecting to learn more on Monday.
