Subway camera didn't capture armed robber
NORTH BEND, Ore.-- A North Bend Police officer says the camera inside a subway on Newmark did not capture the image of the person who robbed the store at gunpoint Monday night.
Sgt. Buddy Young told KCBY on Wednesday that the camera inside the store was low quality and did not capture a good image of the thief.
Young says businesses should see the incident at the Subway as a good reason to install high quality security cameras in addition to a few other safety measures.
"If you properly install the height measurement sticker on the door post, like you see at 7-Elevens, and you point the camera towards that measuring sticker, it will make identifying a suspect much easier," Young said.
Coos Bay and North Bend Police are still looking for three suspects. Two were involved in a robbery around 9:40 Monday night in the Empire District.
According to Coos Bay Police Cpt. Cal Mitts, the robbery took place during a botched silver sale at a local gold and silver buyer's home.
The Subway robbery in North Bend and the armed robbery in the Empire District are not connected.
All three suspects are described as white men in their 20s, between 150-180 pounds, between 5'10- 6' tall.
The two men involved in the Empire robbery were last seen wearing a white hooded sweat shirt with black caligraphy, and the other man was wearing a tan Carhatt jacket.
Coos Bay Police also say one of the men had a red tint to his hair while the other had brown hair.
If you have any information, you are asked to call Coos Bay Police for information about the Empire robbery, and you are asked to call North Bend Police for information about the Subway robbery.
