Grand opening of Coos County Democrat Headquarters
By Brie Thiele, KCBY NewsAs election season looms near, the Coos County Democrats open their new election headquarters in Pony Village Mall Tuesday. This location will be the center of of all Coos County Democrat activities and Hank Stebbins with the DeFazio campaign says Pony Village Mall is the perfect place to be. Stebbins says, "you get a lot of people coming through, a lot of interested people stopping in and talking to us and you know, we can discuss whether people are Republican or Democrat, whatever their issues are. There's a lot of ideas that come through and that's exciting, definitely." Stebbins will be working full time at the Democrat Headquarters and encourages anyone to come by, regardless of party affiliation, and talk about issues important to them. "This is an important area for peter, and a lot of times, I think people feel that he's in Eugene and the Eugene area a lot and that the South Coast doesn't get as much attention," says Stebbins. "So I think the reason I'm down here is really to meet with people and connect with people down here and show them that this is an important area to him." At the headquarters, you can register to vote, pick up signs and shirts along with election materials and a copy of Advocate, a free newspaper featuring political stories by local residents.
