COOS BAY - With clear night skies in the forecast, it may be a good time to pull out that telescope, and now, a local expert is willing to show you how to make the most of your stargazing experience.

On Tuesday, Astronomy fanatic and Southwestern instructor Dan Neal will be hosting a free workshop on how to use all kinds of telescopes.

He says, ever since he found the planet Jupiter on a toy telescope, he started his journey exploring space and the galaxy, and now, he wants to share that information with others.

According to Neal, there's a lot to see in these area skies.

"There's been some really good nebulas out there," says Neal. "The Ryan Nebula has been out since right before Christmas, and that's a prime time to look out at that particular nebula. We are also going to be looking at the planet Mars and of course, the moon is always fun to watch."

His workshop will also include a lecture on astrology and how to use star charts.

And with the right conditions, he will take the class onto the soccer field to view the stars.

He encourages everyone to dress warmly and children younger than 12 must come with an adult. It starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Eden Hall.
