COOS BAY - Local middle schoolers are picking up the feather dusters and offering up their cleaning services to Bay Area residents, in an unusual type of fundraiser.

Over 40 Sunset Middle School eighth graders are getting creative in their fundraising efforts to help raise money for an east coast trip this summer.

On Friday, the students held a "Youth Service Auction" where the community was able to bid on service teams, made up of three to five students, to help with general cleaning work around the office and home.

Each service team will provide eight hours of work by March 28th, charging a small fee for their efforts.

This is one of many fundraisers the students have held, they each need to raise $1,800 by April 4th to pay for the trip.

At the end of June, the students will travel to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Gettysburg as part of the educational trip.

If you are interested in helping donate to the trip call Sunset Middle School at 888-1242.
