COOS BAY - Bringing the fine art of printmaking to the community, two long time Coos Bay residents make a rare find just south of Bandon with the Coos Art Museum in mind.

Earlier this month, Pat and Gail Snyder of Coos Bay donated a printmaking etching press to the museum.

The press, which weighs around 1,000 pounds, was moved by crane and truck into it's current space with the help of Art Signs of Coos Bay.

Pat, a retired Marshfield art teacher, first taught printmaking to students in the late '60s and says this type of art has become more popular over the years.

They hope the press will play an important role in the museum, there are even talks of classes starting up over the summer to teach the basics of the art.

The Coos Art Museum has a collection of over 300 printmaking pieces, including etching, lithograph and engraving which will be on display this summer.
