Professional Dutch soccer players come to North Bend for special camp
By Kristina NelsonCOOS BAY - Introducing a European style of soccer to the local game, four professional Dutch soccer players visit the Bay Area for a special camp this weekend. The Dutch players got a little practice time in on Southwestern's soccer field on Wednesday, taking in a friendly game against local North Bend High School soccer players. This is the first trip to the U.S. for the Dutch players, and they say they're hoping to teach their style of play to the local youth at the first ever Epuerto-Dutch Soccer Camp. The players ended up here thanks to Bay Area Soccer Club coach Tom Zomerschoe, who knows one of them. They say so far they are enjoying their experience, which was made even better when they got word their national team beat Italy in the Euro 2008 Soccer Championships on Monday. "We were very excited, 3-0, Italy is the World Champion so that is great. Nobody expected it, because the Netherlands is such a small country," says Gordens Beders The Epuerto-Dutch Soccer Camp begins this Saturday at North Bend High School. Most Popular
