Country western musical rocks NB house
By Azenith Smith
NORTH BEND - A country western musical returns to a North Bend theatre once again, packing the house its opening night.
It was nothing but laughs and entertainment Saturday night as Little Ole Opry took center stage at the Little Theatre on the Bay for this year's run. Always a hometown crowd pleaser, Director Josie Reid says it appeals to all generations. "Little Ole Opry is a kick in the pants," says Reid. "It's a cross between Hee-Haw and Grand Ole Opry. It's been going on for over 25 years. It's so much fun. We've got fancy dancers and wild costumes." Reid adds, new this year is the high caliber of talent among their young performers and a new challenge for the audience. While most of the ticket sales goes toward maintenance for the theatre house, this year, Reid is challenging the crowd to help get an ADA bathroom on the ground floor. "I'm challenging 20 Opry audience members to donate $1,000 or 40 Opry audience members to donate $500," says Reid. "We got our first $500 tonight already." Little Ole Opry will be playing every Saturday night in July with upcoming shows showcasing 50's rock and roll, hot new country and traditional and cowboy music. It all ends with a bang with a Best of Opry show on August 2 and 3. Tickets are $12 and can be reserved by calling the box office at (541) 756-4336. |
