Competition gets fierce at second round of Bay Area Teen Idol
By Kristina NelsonCOOS BAY - Local teens continued to battle it out on stage Thursday night, competing for the chance to be the next Bay Area Teen Idol. Round two of the competition featured the teens singing their choice of song for the judges. In addition to singing this week, some contestants even showed off their slick dance moves. Mike the Bear from K-Dock Radio was also on hand to introduce the judges and competitors. This week Alyssa Birrer of North Bend came out on top and two competitors were eliminated including Danni Kimball and Blaze Jones, both of Coos Bay. Teen Idol is a drug free community event, aimed at providing area teens with a drug, alcohol and tobacco free environment during the eight weeks of competition. It's sponsored by K-Dock Radio, Bay Area Together for Youth, the Coos County Commission on Children and Families and Oregon DHS.
