Local fire departments get a nice donation

Local fire departments get a nice donation

By Nicole Plascencia

COOS BAY- Lovable pets in Coos Bay and Charleston will now have a better chance of surviving should they be involved in a house fire.

At the Coos Bay station this week, the Furry Friends donated pet rescue masks. Member Connie Hare says they've been told that if firefighters had masks like the ones donated they would have been able to save more animals.

Coos Bay fire chief Stan Gibson says every year there are at least two to three fires with pets involved. So he says it's especially exciting because the department has never had masks fit for dogs. Gibson says with the news masks they will be able to give pets oxygen quicker and more efficiently.

Furry Friends is working towards supplying every fire department in the North Bend/Coos Bay district with a pet rescue mask.
