COQUILLE - Traffic is backed up for a couple miles Monday, after a truck hauling scrap metal overturns on Highway 42 near Coquille.

The highway looked more like a parking lot than a roadway earlier this afternoon.

According to Oregon State Police Trooper Freddie Dunlap, at 1:39 p.m. they received a call regarding the single truck rollover on Highway 42.

"According to the driver, he was eastbound on Highway 42, just to the west of Garden Valley, he came around the turn and felt the load shift, and the trailer overturned taking the cab with it. The trailer was carrying a load of scrap metal taking out about 100 yards of gard-rail," says Dunlap.

The driver, Gregory Lee Kuechler from Albany refused medical treatment.

Coquille Police, the Fish and Game Department, OSP, O-DOT, and Mast Brothers Towing all responded.
