COOS BAY - Young Coos Bay students in need will have a good start to this school year, thanks to a local women's club.

For the past eight years, the Coos County Republican Women have donated school supplies to area kids who need it.

This year, they decided to donate to 5th and 6th graders at Millicoma Intermediate School in Coos Bay.

On Monday, they dropped off a wide assortment of supplies, backpacks and toiletries.

Organizer Anita Conn says, they collected $1,100 worth of supplies, which is the most they've ever given.

This is just one of many causes the club gives to as part of their national "Caring for America" campaign.

Next up for the club is collecting baby diapers, clothes and supplies, which they plan to give to the Pregnancy Resource Center in Coos Bay.

If you'd like to help them with their efforts, call (541) 888-9650.
