NORTH BEND- The Southwestern Oregon Central Labor Council hosted it's 29th annual Labor Day picnic.

Ferry Road Park in North Bend was filled with workers of all types just kicking back and enjoying the day. A beautiful day it was with the sun shining and the smell of burgers on the grill.

Attendee Joanne Calder says she has been in the restaurant and motel business for more than 25 years and says she's honored to be a part of the picnic.

In addition, there were some politicians speaking at the event on issues and upcoming elections. JoAnne Verger, Arnie Roblan and Bill Bradbury were among those that were present.

Oregon was the first state to pass a law in 1887 observing Labor Day.
