BANDON - With the Bandon Cranberry Festival just a few days away, the 2008 Cranberry Court Princesses were busy practicing their coronation speeches that will help kick off the festivities this weekend.

All summer long the princesses have been working with local speaking club Toastmasters International in Bandon.

And on Monday, the girls were rehearsing one last time for the group before their big night this Friday.

The Toastmasters have been working with each years group of princesses for five years now, assisting them with their public speaking skills.

Toastmaster Sharon Hennick says the partnership with the Cranberry Court started largely in part thanks to Julie Miller, with the Bandon Visitor Center who thought the weekly workshop would help the girls.

2008 Princess Ashley Powell says the skills she's obtained through Toastmasters are one's she'll keep with her the rest of her life.

She says before she came to Toastmasters, she had no confidence speaking in front of groups but that's changed over the past two months.

The Cranberry Court Coronation will be held this Friday, September 12th at 7 p.m. at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon.

It is one of many activities held throughout Bandon's 62nd Annual Cranberry Festival.
