COOS BAY - A new Oregon band is peddling forward, hoping to promote their music as they tour from town to town in an unconventional way, on bicycles.

Four members of the Portland based band, "Blind Pilot" arrived in Coos Bay Wednesday night for a live performance at Waxer's Rock Hall.

They've been traveling for almost a month, starting first in Bellingham Washington, but according to band member, Ryan Dobrowski, they've got got their work cut out for them to make their final destination in San Diego.

"It's all self supported. We carry all our own equipment (on bikes), we don't have a sagwaggon, no support vehicle."

While this West Coast bike tour is more physically demanding than most traditional tours, the band says it's more than worth it.

"You see so much more of the country side, and meet so many more people, and experience everywhere more fully then when you're just in a car," said band member Lucas Lars Ydstie.

Blind Pilot's popularity has recently taken off when iTunes named them song of the week in early August.

You can get a copy of their CD and track the band as they travel down the coast at their website, www.blindpilotmusic.com
