NORTH BEND, Ore. - Former North Bend football coach and beloved member of the community Howard Johnson was honored with a memorial service on Saturday where hundreds came out to say goodbye.

Johnson was killed on Friday, October 3rd while driving to Sutherlin to watch his Bulldogs play.

Born in Montana in 1936, Johnson had a great passion for family, religion and sports.

According to family members, Johnson was a multi-sport athlete and later became head football coach of the North Bend Bulldogs.

But it wasn't just a passion for sports, Johnson also loved music, listing Dean Martin among his favorites.

He was also a member of the Coos County Mounted Sheriff's Posse and shared a passion for animals.

But above all else, it was his family that meant the most to him.
