Veterans memorial dedicated along Highway 101
NORTH BEND, Ore. - Setting time aside to reflect on the lives of our servicemen and women and the hard work they do, local veterans and community members gather at a special site dedicated to all those who have or will wear a uniform.

Folks braved the wet and windy weather on Tuesday, to celebrate Veterans Day and dedicate the David Dewett Veterans Memorial Wayside in North Bend.

Located just north of the McCullough Bridge, the site was built by vets group Point Man Ministries Outpost 101 in honor of vets past and present, including outpost member David Dewett, who passed away a few years ago.

The Oregon Army National Guard raised the flags and the Coast Guard provided a flyover for the dedication.

County and state representatives also spoke.

Veterans Day became an official legal holiday in 1938.
