COOS BAY, Ore. -Advancements in technology has saved us lots of time, now it's helping the coos bay police station save money and man hours.

Local police officers will be spending a lot less time commuting to court, thanks to the help of a new online video conference. According to the Coos Bay Police, they usually spend at a minimum of an hour and a half traveling to and from Coquille about two times a week to testify in front of a grand jury. Now they can accomplish the same task from the comfort of their office, saving their time and sanity.

According to Captain Cal Mitts, "It lessens the ware and tare both on the officer in the aspect of he has a lot more time at home. It also saves us money. Right now obviously fuel prices are important in the savings that we can save the community that way by not driving to Coquille as much and millage on the vehicle itself and not having as much millage on some of our cars."

The Coos Bay Police Department hopes to implement this program within the next week.
