NORTH BEND, Ore. - Local working men and women and their families headed to Ferry Road Park on Monday, to celebrate Labor Day with a barbecue.

The Southwestern Oregon Central Labor Council hosted its 30th annual Labor Day Picnic.

The park was filled with all kinds of workers, who kicked back and enjoyed a hot dog or hamburger, and the nice weather.

Labor Council President Bob Westerman says this Labor Day, marks a kick-off for a massive push for health care and labor law reform.

"Health care is a big issue right now across the country as everyone well knows and we just want to showcase that we need to bring down health care costs in this country, we need some kind of reform."

Local and state politicians were also on hand, including Arnie Roblan who was manning the grill, and Coos County Commissioners Bob Main and Nikki Whitty, as well as former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury and State Representative Brian Clem.

And in case you didn't know Oregon was actually the first state to pass a law in 1887 observing Labor Day.
