Broadway Bound opens at LTOB
By Erica Rush, KCBY NewsNORTH BEND, Ore. -After years of anticipation, The Little Theatre on the Bay presents it's final installment of Neil Simon's classic Autobiographical Trilogy, "Broadway Bound." It appeared folks could hardly wait for opening night before coming to sneak a peak during its dress-rehearsal on Thursday. Six years ago, Director Byrell Justice started the series with "Brighton Beach Memoirs," followed by "Biloxi Blues," two years later. And with much of the same cast from the original two, Justice says they'll be some familiarity with this performance but the story itself is a bit deeper than the others. "There's a lot of laughs in it but it's really deep," says Justice. "It's not just a screwball comedy with funny one liners like Neil Simon is known for, it's very deep. You'll be laughing one minute and crying the next." Busy directing the play for the past two months now, Justice is pulling double duty, also acting in the play. He tells us it took some time to decide if he would even do this production but now that he is, he wants everything to be just right. "I'm very passionate about this play," says Justice. "It's very personal, it's very close to me and I didn't really trust it with anybody else. So it's been a lot of work but it's going to be one great show." "Broadway Bound opens Friday, September 11 and runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM with Sunday matinees at 2 PM, until September 27. |
