LAKESIDE, Ore.- Volunteers gave up a little bit of their Saturday morning this weekend to give kids in Lakeside a safe place to play.

Lakeside city council member Mack Eubanks says, "kids here in Lakeside didn't have any place to really play." He says eventually a fence will be put in to keep the playground safe.

The new playground is adjacent to Lakeside's city hall.

Volunteers, including Southwestern Oregon Community College basketball team members were on hand to put the playground equipment together. "It's really exciting to see it come together... and everybody has just jumped in and helped us here, all the people in town, " says Eubanks.

Funding for the playground came from groups all over the community over the past 8 months and in just a couple short weeks the final product will be up and serving kids all over the community.
