NORTH BEND, Ore. - It took almost two decades and lots of fund-raising, but earlier this year, a local group saw their vision of a community baseball field come to fruition.

Now, they've set their sights on building a complete complex off of Libby Lane in Charleston.

And to help raise some money, BACAPA or the Barview Area, Charleston Area Park Association held their seventh annual fundraiser Saturday night at the Mill Casino-Hotel.

According to BACAPA President Dave Richards, this fundraiser typically brings in around $20,000, which will go a long ways in helping build more fields.

"They're pretty expensive, we're looking at 250,000 to 500,000 dollars just depending on what we can get donated, what we can't. Economic times are pretty bad right now so it's gonna be a tough road but, you never know, people come up with money."

Richards says their main focus now, is putting the finishing touches on their current field, which is used by local little league teams.

"The Campbell Group is actually building a concession stand with a score keepers booth over the top of it. We'll be putting in stadium seating this winter. Finishing up our sprinkler system this winter and we've also expanded out parking lot."

This fundraiser is one of many the group holds throughout the year.
