Ballot Boxes not empty for long in Coos Co.

COQUILLE, Ore. -After all the hype during last November's Primary Election, it would seem the lines at the ballot boxes have dwindled down.  But that doesn't appear to be the case for the Coos County Elections Office, as they begin to prepare for yet another election.

So far this year, the local office has faced two Special Elections regarding the City of Bandon, plus two Recall Elections, one of which just wrapped up Tuesday, Nov. 17.

That's when KCBY News caught up with Coos County Clerk, Terri Turi to see how things were ticking along.

"We've kind of had a steady election all year it seem like," laughed Turi.  "We had a Countywide Recall in May and Tonight, City of Lakeside, the Mayor and the City Councilors.  You know, it's just part of the process."

But don't expect things to slow down anytime soon.  Already the Elections Office is preparing now for a Statewide Election in January, concerning two tax measure referendums, measures 66 and 67.

"That process, since we're vote by mail, actually will start probably this week," said Turi.  "We're expecting to get ballot certification from the state on those two tax measures by Friday."
