Police believe argument between brothers led to death in Coquille
By Tim Novotny KCBY NewsCOQUILLE, ORE - A month of tragedies in Coos County added yet another one over the weekend as an alleged fight between two brothers in Coquille ends with one being arrested for murder. Coquille Police responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a home off West Central Boulevard in Coquille, just after 2:30 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 22. Lee Edwin Wallace, 38, was found lying on the ground nearby the trailer where his brother, Nathan Todd Wallace, lived. Police say Lee Wallace had recently moved in with his brother. Police say Lee Wallace had a single stab wound to his side and was semi-conscious when they arrived but unable to communicate with Officers. He was immediately taken to Coquille Valley Hospital and stabilized, then taken to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay for emergency surgery. Meanwhile, the Coos County Major Crimes Team was activated and an investigation was started. Lee Wallace was pronounced dead at Bay Area Hospital at about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday. Coquille Police Chief Mark Dannels says he was stabbed through his torso by a homemade "Samurai" sword, about three to four feet long, that was owned by his older brother, Nathan. Dannels says it's believed that drugs and alcohol were a factor in what appears to be an argument that went bad. Nathan Wallace, 41, was arrested for Murder and Possession of Methamphetamine. He is expected to be arraigned in a Coos County Courtroom on Monday afternoon. Anyone who may have information on this incident is asked to contact the Coquille Police Department. Most Popular
