Hundreds come out to support murdered Coquille woman's family
Jayme Austin By Kristina Nelson, KCBY NewsCOQUILLE, Ore. - Friends of Jayme Austin, the Coquille woman who authorities believe was murdered last month allegedly by her brother-in-law, came out to support her family, at a special fund-raising event on Sunday afternoon. Over 100 people packed the Coquille High School cafeteria for the spaghetti feed fundraiser, which helped raise money for the Jayme Austin Memorial Fund. In addition to food, there was a raffle, and silent auction, with items donated by businesses and individuals in the community. Austin's friend and one of the event organizers, Kara Breuer, says the support from the community has been overwhelming. "We're very happy, we've had so many donations and every body's been really gracious and we're just thankful for people to come out today. It was definitely a county-wide thing, we've has people from Powers, Bridge, all the way to North Bend, Lakeside, so we just want to thank everybody." Breuer didn't have an exact amount of money raised for the memorial fund so far, but she says it's been successful. You can still help out Austin's family, including her daughters, by donating to the Jayme Sue Austin Memorial Fund, currently set up at Umpqua Bank. Most Popular |
