Bandon school bus crashes near end of long trip
By KPIC NewsBANDON, Ore. - A school bus carrying the Bandon girls basketball team crashed just north of Bandon as the bus was returning home after a trip to Rogue River early Saturday morning. Oregon State Police troopers say the crash happened just after midnight, just a few miles from Bandon. The bus driver was transported with non-life threatening injuries, but none of the others on the bus was taken to the hospital. The bus was driven by Sandra Klein, 60, of Bandon. Police said the bus was southbound when Klein lost control negotiating a curve at the bottom of a hill. The bus traveled off the roadway onto the southbound shoulder and went up an embankment, knocking down a highway sign. It continued across both lanes and crashed into the highway guardrail on the northbound shoulder. It came to rest on top of the crushed guardrail. |
