NORTH BEND, Ore. - 75 years after saying "I do," a Coos Bay couple is still going strong, demonstrating the true meaning of love, after over seven decades of marriage.

Frank and Mary Varley celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary Tuesday, among family and friends at Inland Point Senior Community in North Bend.

The couple met almost eighty-years ago as teenagers while attending Marshfield High School.

"My girlfriend kept talking about him and I didn't know who he was. She took me over to the gym, he was playing basketball and she pointed him out to me and I said, 'oh my god,' all I could see, he had a face full of freckles," said Mary.

"I was in love with every girl I took out," remarked Frank.

But Mary was quick to point out, "I was the lucky one, I'm sure of that."

Mary is 92, Frank is 94.

The two were married on March 9, 1935, soon after finishing Marshfield.

The couple, who had two sons along the way, say they can't remember a time when they weren't together.

"We did almost everything together, a lot more than a lot of people."

They say the secret to having a long, happy marriage, is loving your spouse through the good times and the bad.
