EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon won't comment, but Duck football fans are still wondering about Jeremiah Masoli's status on the team as he faces a felony burglary charge.

Spring football is less than a month away. Whether Masoli will be able to take part in spring football -- and next football season -- remains to be seen.

With Masoli at quarterback, Cregon stood to be a top-10 ranked team in the pre-season and be in the hunt for the national championship.

With Masoli heading up coach Chip Kelly's offense, the Ducks have lit up the scoreboard the past couple of seasons, putting up more than 37 points and 424 yards per contest during the 2009 season.

The one game that Masoli missed with a knee injury, against UCLA, Oregon struggled to move the ball.

Looking ahead, Kelly and the Ducks were returning everyone except for Ed Dickson from that offense and were poised for a big campaign.

With the burglary charge against Masoli and the status of star running back LaMichael James up in the air pending Friday's change of plea and sentencing hearing, questions now loom over Oregon's spring session and the 2011 season.

On Wednesday afternoon, KVAL Sports tried to call and e-mail Masoli to get his side of this story but couldn't reach him.

Coach Kelly hasn't commented yet and, based on past statements, isn't likely to comment until at least after Friday's arraignment.

Without Masoli, Kelly would be forced to go with a quarterback with little or no starting experience.
