COOS BAY, Ore. - Local youngsters were learning their way around the kitchen on Saturday, thanks to Oregon Coast Culinary Institute, who helped sponsor a kid's cooking day.

About 25 kids from Coquille's Art Education Enhancement Center, got a cooking lesson from OCCI students.

The kids were cooking up everything from spaghetti and meatballs, to bread and cookies.

OCCI student Jennifer Severson, says she hopes the kids walk away with a sense of accomplishment and an appreciation for the kitchen.
