Four to hospital after school bus vs. van crash

EAST OF ALBANY, Ore. -- Albany Fire Department officials said a van crashed into a school bus, sending four to the hospital Friday night.

The Bandon School District bus and van crashed at the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 226 east of Albany. Two students on the bus and the two people inside the van went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Donna K. Perdue, 73, of Corvallis, was driving the van and stopped at a stop sign westbound on Highway 226 at the intersection of Highway 20. Perdue pulled onto Highway 20 and that's when the van collided with the left side of the Bandon School District bus.

The crash closed Highway 20 in both directions while fire crews helped patients Friday night.

Donna K. Perdue and her passenger, Donald E. Perdue, 86, were extricated from the van.

Bus driver Thomas J. Hutton, 68, of Bandon, was not injured. Two passengers on the school bus received minor injuries.
