SALEM, Ore. - The governor plans to convene a tsunami debris task force to be led by the general who directs the Office of Emergency Management.
Gov. John Kitzhaber will name General Mike Caldwell as head of the interagency Oregon Tsunami Debris Task Force.
Kitzhaber and Caldwell plan a press conference Thursday at 1 p.m. at the state Capitol, along with heads of the Oregon Military Department, state agencies and the Oregon Legislature's Coastal Caucus to discuss the state's response to marine debris from the 2011 Japan tsunami now arriving on the Oregon coastline.
