Search continues for missing North Bend man
NORTH BEND, Ore.- The search is continuing tonight for a North Bend man who disappeared almost a week ago.
Deputies say 59 year old Wyman Wade Weathersby has been missing since February 2nd.
Coos County Sheriffs say, he left his North Bend home and reportedly drove to the beach to go for a walk.
Weathersby's 1997 Acura was found Wednesday morning at the Weyerhaeuser overlook, off the North Spit.
Coos County Search and Rescue, Coast Guard helicopters and the Marine Patrol joined in to search the area all day Wednesday and today, but couldn't find any trace of him.
Deputies say they need to act fast because Weathersby is a diabetic and needs his medication.
"We are still in a time frame were we got some "I hopes" that he is still alive and okay, says Corporal Will Coleman with the Coos County Sheriffs Office. "So once we get notified we want to try and cover the area as best we can."
As the sun goes down this evening, we're told California Oregon Regional Search and Rescue, or CORESAR will continue with the search tomorrow.
"To bring in more personnel and try to cover the area some more, more detail and going over things again. Sometimes it's a matter of, you feel an are is covered pretty well, but sometimes bringing in a fresh crew or somebody working it again they will go in different spots" continues Coleman.
Deputies don't suspect foul play at this time.
Weathersby is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds with very short brown hair, a light colored goatee and gray eyes.
He was last seen wearing a black denim jacket and blue jeans.
If you know anything about his whereabouts you're asked to call Coos County Sheriff's at 541-269-1222 extension 240.
