COOS BAY, Ore. -- After almost a year of debate, food vendor carts will be allowed to operate on public property in Coos Bay.

City councilors unanimously approved a three-part ordinance that defines what a "transient food cart" is, as well as what fees they will have to pay and what their boundaries will be.

Special protections have been given to the farmer's market and special event vendors.

Food cart vendors are not permitted within 300 feet of a farmer's market or special event taking place within city limits.
