Crab prices are up this year for commercial fishermen
Last week, most of the Oregon Coast got the go-ahead for a commercial Dungeness crab season to start on December 15, 2011. Now they have a price agreement in place as well.

Bandon Pacific Dock Crew Supervisor Ron Holland tells KCBY that the crabbers he has spoken with are excited about the price.

Last year, the starting price for the season was set at $1.75/pound. This year, fishermen and processors have agreed to open at $2.30/pound.

But, not everyone can take advantage of that price just yet. One section of the Coast, from Gold Beach south to the California border, will remain closed until January 15, 2012.
