Oregon Resources cuts 31 jobs
COOS BAY, Ore. - A global decline in demand for its products prompted an Oregon mining company to layoff 31 workers.
Oregon Resources Corporation said the 14 full-time and 17 temporary employees got the news Thursday. They will receive two weeks pay as severence pay, CEO Wayne Knott told KCBY News in Coos Bay.
Knott said global demand for the company's product has declined, especially in China and Europe. Those declines hurt the company's bottom line and they had to lay off workers in order to balance the books, he said.
