NEAR, ARLINGTON, Ore. - Almost 50 new wind turbines will soon provide energy to 30,000 homes in Oregon as a new wind farm begins construction.

The Horizon Wind Farm near Arlington will have the environmental impact similar to taking 7,000 cars of the road. The giant wind turbines are hundreds of feet tall.

"It takes about seventy thousand tons of carbon dioxide per year off our roads in terms of cars and things," Ken Ripper of Horizon Wind Energy said, "so it's definitely good for the environment."

The wind farm is expected to go online early in 2009.
